About Afro People Clothing
BECAUSE YOU CAN'T HAVE AN AFRO WITHOUT AFRO PEOPLE!!!
Afro People,' a clothing line designed for individuals with natural Afro hair, with the aim of promoting self-acceptance and empowerment.
Many in the black community, irrespective of age, face unwarranted criticism and negative judgments regarding their natural afro hair. In response to this, I've launched a clothing line, Afro People, which not only celebrates the beauty of embracing your natural afro hair but also offers a diverse range of 10 distinct afro characters, each representing a unique spirit. These characters, including Music Fro, High Fro, Money Fro, Black Power Fro, Inner Peace Fro, Gamer Fro, Kung Fu Fro, Sports Fro, Black Family Fro, and Foodie Fro, embody various aspects of our lives and culture. My vision is that when people hear the term 'Afro,' they'll immediately think of our brand.
Within its first year, Afro People successfully secured a spot at 'Da Spot NYC,' a distinctive retail destination nestled in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn at 445 Albee Square West, inside City Point BKLYN Mall (formerly known as Albee Square Mall). This vibrant space showcases the creative prowess of over 50 independent Black and POC-owned brands.

The inspiration behind this idea is deeply personal, stemming from my own journey as a black woman who embarked on the path of embracing my natural hair eight years ago. Throughout this journey, I've encountered criticism, ridicule, and endless questions from friends, family, coworkers, and even strangers. I often found myself being compared to a stereotype or made to feel as if my natural beauty didn't conform to societal standards.

It's disheartening to note that I often receive compliments on the appearance of my hair when I wear protective styles, even though the hair isn't growing naturally from my scalp. This dissonance prompted me to take action against the multitude of negative messages that undermine our natural selves, messages that confront us at every turn. Afro People Clothing was born out of a desire to lead by example.
This clothing line is not just about fashion; it's a source of inspiration and motivation. It is designed to encourage our people to take pride in their true selves, just as they were meant to be.

Our Mission
Each Afro People character serves as a platform for creating a positive impact.
My aim is to connect each character with a program designed to empower and uplift black communities. For instance, Money Fro could support financial literacy through an app or educational services. Sports Fro could promote safe, regulated sports programs and apparel for underprivileged communities. Foodie Fro could offer an app guiding users to healthy food options in their communities coupled with healthy food drives in food deserts around the country. Inner Peace Fro could provide mental health and therapy services to the black and brown communities. High Fro could cater to the expanding cannabis community with its unique strain and accessories. Additionally, I also plan to develop cartoons, toys, and children's books that educate on fundamental reading, math, science, and history concepts. The opportunities are endless.

I look forward to one day soon establishing three brick-and-mortar locations, with one in my birthplace, Harlem, another in Atlanta, and a third in Leimert Park in Los Angeles. Additionally, I plan to introduce an Afro People vehicle that will travel across the country, participating in HBCU events, black festivals, and community gatherings.
Afro People was created to serve my people, and hopefully, with your assistance, that's exactly what I intend to do.
